On the morning ride up Mount Washington’s Hawk Chair after a luscious overnight snowfall, adaptive skier Kevin Monk shares his comeback story.
A couple years after a dirt bike accident left him paraplegic, the 24-year-old Campbell River resident finds himself charging new lines in a sit ski with the Vancouver Island Society for Adaptive Snowsports (VISAS).
Celebrating International Women’s Day with Katie and Shannon
Today we had Katie (left) and Shannon(right) out for a rip on the sit skis from Vancouver Island Society for Adaptive Snow Sports. We want want to bring special attention to Shannon Drought, an amazing caregiver to Katie, on this International Women’s Day. It is people like Katie and Shannon that make our volunteering so worth while.
Moving Forward Together 2023
This new annual event hosted by Vancouver Island Society for Adaptive Snow sports (VISAS) and Mount Washington Alpine Resort on Vancouver Island is sponsored by VISAS through support and grants to help support ill and injured military veterans and their caregivers through snow sports.

Project Inclusion 2023
It was a great day skiing with Project Inclusion from the Comox Valley Child Development Association up at Mount Washington Alpine Resort. Vancouver Island Society for Adaptive Snowsports instructors were out in full force to provide opportunities for participants.
