Veterans and RCMP Ski Retreats
This annual event hosted by Vancouver Island Society for Adaptive Snow Sports (VISAS) and Mount Washington Alpine Resort on Vancouver Island is sponsored by VISAS through support and grants to help support ill and injured veterans, and RCMP, along with their caregivers through snow sports.
This snow week provides the opportunity for participants to return to a sport they may once have enjoyed or to introduce them to a winter sport that may become a lifelong family activity. This week long event will be financially covered, including a travel grant to and from our location. Our goal is to have a fun, inclusive safe week with many positive experiences.
Background to your VISAS Team.
VISAS is a volunteer group of 100 Alpine, Nordic and Snowboard instructors, many of whom are retired military veterans, RCMP and first responders who are dedicated to bringing the mountain experience to people with disabilities. The VISAS team has worked with ill and injured participants for many years and we want you to accept our challenge through some snow therapy. We are a non-profit organization focused on providing nationally certified instructors to assist physically or cognitively challenged people. We offer instruction in downhill skiing, snowboarding and cross country skiing. VISAS will provide all adaptive equipment and if you have your own, then we can help you rock it.
